Space and Materiality-2

This is the continuation of the study of the human hand.

Here are 10 sketches of my hand holding different objects.


Next, I’ve sketched 5 more hands but this time undergoing tension.


Lastly, I’ve sketched 5 hands doing some sort of activity.


Here comes the interesting part, in our last session we were asked to make a 3D model of our hand considering a definite grip using wires of varying thicknesses. So this is what I made. It was quite a struggle but I think I managed to do it fairly well.







Fun Fact: We happen to have five fingers of different sizes so as to make it easier for us to hold on to things. Basically to enhance our grip. If all our fingers were of the same size and if we ever had to hold a circular object they would simply get entangled.
